Emergenza is the world's biggest festival for unsigned bands, with an average of 6,000 bands participating every year in 200 different cities all over the world. Every year the national finalists gets to spend three days in Germany at the Taubertal Open Air festival, where the world final takes place, with an average of 30,000 people showing up over the weekend. This is where, every year, the best band wins a professional production for their first album and where plenty of other musicians are rewarder for their skills with prizes from the festival's sponsors.

Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby have individually been making distinctive and original music for decades, he a British iconoclast and wild-card survivor of the early Stiff Records, she as a long-standing heroine of the New York pop scene. For the last three years they have been touring in the US, UK and Europe. In 2008 the self-styled `two piece rock ‘n’ roll group’ released their debut album “Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby”, which enjoyed rapturous critical acclaim in the USA and has been the subject of a four star review in Mojo. They have also recently recorded a new double A side single, “Teflon Wok” c/w “Bobblehead Doll”. Wreckless Eric recorded the legendary single “Whole Wide World” back in 1977. Since then he has made countless albums in different guises, moving between bubblegum, pop, grunge, psychedelia and techno, but always remaining true to the DIY spirit of his early Stiff days. His most recent solo album, Bungalow Hi, was described by Andrew Weatherall as sounding “like Bo Diddley trying to outdo Aphex Twin”. Amy Rigby started a country band in eighties New York City, went on to form girl group The Shams, and began her solo career in 1996 with the US hit album Diary Of A Mod Housewife. Her five solo albums embrace pop, country, folk-rock, psychedelia and the indefinable. The Washington Post calls her “One of rock’s most distinctive and consistently excellent songwriters”. There are no other musicians involved - Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby sing together in harmony accompanied by electric guitar, bass and organ (Eric) and guitars and piano (Amy), plus the occasional sample and the odd bossanova beatbox.

The play is set in a rural town in County Kerry that has been over-run by a Hollywood film crew. The story revolves around the two central characters, Charlie Conlon and Jake Quinn, who are working as extras in the film. The cast of two perform all 15 characters (men and women), often switching gender and voice with swift dexterity and the absolute bare minimum of costume changes.

Between Metaphor and Object features a range of works from the IMMA Collection, primarily sculptures and installation works from the 1990s. It provides perspectives on the diversity of practice that is represented in the IMMA Collection from this period, explores its particularities, and considers them in the context of international trends of the decade. The title of the exhibition references perceived polarities in art since the 1960s and also proposes the idea of the continuous flux visited upon artworks in the mind of the viewer between symbolism and objecthood. Notably the exhibition incorporates a number of pieces from the Weltkunst Collection, which is on loan to IMMA since 1994. This significant collection of British sculpture and drawings of the 1980s and ‘90s will return to the Weltkunst Foundation in 2010 and the exhibition acknowledges the generous loan of these works.

Some were indeed gigantic, but many were only as heavy as a Labrador dog and many were vegetarian! Did you know that the Ornithomimus could run faster than an Olympic sprinter? See how the sociable Triceratops lived in herds, caring for and protecting their young. Meet Dilophosaurus, a relative of the first dinosaur found in Scotland. Come face to face with the mighty Tyrannosaurus rex, one of the fiercest land predators ever known. This massive animatronic model, 4 metres tall and 7 metres long, is so lifelike you’ll think it’s the real thing! The musical includes several show stoppers including ‘Skid Row’, ‘Somewhere that’s Green’ and ‘Suddenly Seymour’.

Tom McRae has released four albums since 2000. His eponymous debut was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize, as well as Q Award and A Brit. The Follow up, "Just Like Blood" was similarly critically well received. For "All Maps Welcome" Tom relocated to L.A and made a record in an Italian Villa in the hills of Silverlake. It was whilst living in L.A Tom started playing the Hotel Cafe venue in Hollywood. The Artists of the Hotel Cafe have toured the states for 3 years now, in 2006 Tom brought his friends to the UK and a new European tour is planned for Spring 2008. His fourth record "king of Cards" was released on V2, shortly before the label was swallowed by Universal.

This is an experimental exhibition which attempts to addresses the question of what happens when artworks become part of a collection and are subsequently shown in many different contexts. Working from a potential list of works, the artworks will be changed during the course of the exhibition, with removal of artworks generating absences which call to mind gaps in our memory and point to the partially hidden nature of Museum collections. Additions of works will draw out new and perhaps unexpected associations, and new narratives will emerge within the overall structure of the exhibition. Other strategies such as repositioning works within the exhibition will be used to alter the pace of the exhibition. A list of these potential works will not be disclosed in advance.
