Emergenza is the world's biggest festival for unsigned bands, with an average of 6,000 bands participating every year in 200 different cities all over the world. Every year the national finalists gets to spend three days in Germany at the Taubertal Open Air festival, where the world final takes place, with an average of 30,000 people showing up over the weekend. This is where, every year, the best band wins a professional production for their first album and where plenty of other musicians are rewarder for their skills with prizes from the festival's sponsors.

	Five Lamps Arts Festival Information	Apr 22, 2010 - May 01, 2010
An initiative of Marino College of Further Education aims to bring together local, national and international artists, musicians, singers and dramatists, the festival is a 10 day long celebration of eclectic music, new art, high drama, song, dance and community participation, all shining a light on the arts in Dublin's inner city. The festival is run by volunteers.

	IMRO Showcase Information	Mar 26, 2010 - May 01, 2010
First hosted in 1992, Ireland’s most established new band showcase has provided a live platform for scores of up and coming Irish acts over the years. Recent acts to have featured include Fight Like Apes, Declan O’Rourke, Halves and Delorentos to name but a few. Ronan Yourell from Dublin band Delorentos said of the tour “It was an important step in the development of our band as we gained invaluable experience through the gigs and also met some really cool people!” A number of artists will be chosen from the tour to perform in a ‘Best of Showcase’ gig which will take place in Dublin venue The Academy on May 1st.

All kicks off at 2pm. Tunes of the following variety, they say: "post punk sleaze, new wave-no wave, indie, garage punk and psych blues." Now in its fourth year, this year will feature underground movies, and a record fair which will also feature t-shirts sales and the usual whatsits.

A newly commissioned solo exhibition that explores the complex and historical world of spectatorship. Adopting the early special effects technique of matte painting, Sander uses and quotes the visual intricacies associated with illusion, while critically examining the personal motivation of consumers who participate in spectator industries. Tourism, audiences, the traveller and the curious are all characters who take time out of everyday life and pay to see things. The gallery will be transformed into a single, circular screen, providing a constantly changing and looping landscape. Sander contrasts the simplicity of matte painting with the complexity of the current economic unknowns that form the background to many of our lives.

Barakat walked on gilded splinters with stripper heels, like the lovechild of Alan Vega and Pierre Molinier, during live performances that constantly threatened to dissolve into utter chaos.

Nobody has ever seen a living dinosaur, but scientists can give us a good idea of what they looked like and how they moved. We often imagine dinosaurs as colossal flesh-eating beasts that lived on our planet for an incredible 160 million years. Some were indeed gigantic, but many were only as heavy as a Labrador dog and many were vegetarian! Did you know that the Ornithomimus could run faster than an Olympic sprinter? See how the sociable Triceratops lived in herds, caring for and protecting their young. Meet Dilophosaurus, a relative of the first dinosaur found in Scotland. Come face to face with the mighty Tyrannosaurus rex, one of the fiercest land predators ever known. This massive animatronic model, 4 metres tall and 7 metres long, is so lifelike you’ll think it’s the real thing! Walk past the head of a hungry Tyrannosaurus and watch as his terrifying jaws go SNAP!

Formed by in the summer of 2008, Howlin'Dowlin' are a four-piece Dublin based guitar band who specialise in catchy rock'n'roll tunes. Their impressive live show has won them over a loyal following of fans that is constantly expanding. 2010 has been a busy year for Howlin’Dowlin with numerous headline shows, some acoustic radio sessions and some high profile support slots including a memorable sell out show with “Supergrass” side project “The Hot Rats”.The band is currently recording demos for a debut EP release that is penciled in for the summer of 2010. Catch their brand of catchy, melody driven, rock’n’roll in a venue near you soon.

Exhuming the dead lineage of music's royal past, whilst bringing it round with an electroslap to the future, Romanovs Goodbye are a project designed to break with and shake with their own backgarden diet of post-punk, rave, grunge, electro and alternative rockulation. Instrumentally promiscuous, their cowbell-on-keyboard and guitar-from-the-drumstool swinging antics have found favour with those seeking to witness a fluid lineup twirling from synthy streams of doom-laden rock to softer throes of beatnik wistfulness. Delivering a dismissive hand-shandy to indie-schmindie, the Romanovs have sprung from their Liffey st. base to show those with ears what's ha'penning beyond the conveyor belt of traditional trashcan fashionrock. Miss them and you'll be tsary.

The World Premiere of Oscar Wilde's The Birthday of the Infanta. The twelfth birthday of the Infanta, the Princess of Spain, is a grand and marvelous affair. Snake charmers, Egyptian musicians, puppets, bullfighters, monkeys and bears all come to entertain the Infanta and her friends. But the one that makes her laugh loudest is the open-hearted little Dwarf brought in from the forest to perform a wild woodland dance for her. She is so delighted that she throws him a white rose and insists that he dance again after dinner. The innocent young Dwarf is over the moon and he is sure that the Infanta has fallen in love with him. Determined to declare his devotion to her, he decides to sneak into the Palace to find her... ...but what he finds in the Palace will break his simple heart. Cover charge includes a light lunch.

After a year long residency in 09' at Dublin live music staple Whelans, The Minutes developed a unique rock n' roll show to call their own. After becoming one of Dublin 's must see live acts, it came time to record their debut album and in October of 2009 the three piece headed to Marcata Recordings in upstate New York . Together with producer Kevin McMahon the band have crafted a ten track album that captures the energy of their live sets. The record blasts through one foot stomper after another, from the 2 minute rawness of Secret History, to the crashing drum solo on Believer right up to live favourite In My Time Of Dying. Due for release mid 2010, 'Marcata' is a record you'll come back to time and time again.

The Vagabonds are a Dublin based 4-piece punk-rock band. However, they transcend the mediocrity of the indulgent, egotistical and nepotistic ways, some of their better known peers are renowned for. They drive through the political and social landscape of their songs with little care for who may take offence along the way, if this band offend you; you don't understand. The Vagabonds have no time for bigots, racists and homophobes, if you are any of these things you should not listen to this band. Connected Magazine has called "a refreshing blend of tuneful punk melodies with grimy garage riffs to create a totally infectious sound" and renowned Limerick DJ, Alan Jaques, has refered to them as "Bob Dylan fronting The Clash". The band go into the studio in early June to record their debut single with Stephen Street (The Smiths, Blur, Babyshambles) with a release pencilled in for September.

But when three weird sisters cross his path with mysterious prophecies, Shakespeare’s fearsome tragic hero comes face to face with his most fierce opponent yet – his destiny. Swayed by promises of greatness and the demands of a power-hungry wife, Macbeth swathes his way to power – and moral decay. Rooted in the Irish landscape at the time of Cromwell, this muscular new production from director Jimmy Fay (The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, The Playboy of the Western World, Ages of the Moon) lays bare the darkest side of human nature.
