The May bank holiday weekend at the POD complex on Dublin's Harcourt Street will see a hugely exciting and varied programme of interactive debate and discussion on sport, economics, politics, architecture, media, art, fashion and much more as well as performances of theatre, slam poetry and literary readings. Alastair Campbell - Tony Blair's former head of communications, and PR to the 2005 Lions' Tour of South Africa - hosts a discussion on the politics and ethics of sport. Legendary godfather of rap, Gil Scott-Heron will perform his first Irish show in many years on foot of his outstanding new album and he'll also appear in conversation during the festival. Other guests include Channel Four's Jon Snow, Independent foreign correspondent Robert Fisk and former manager of Wham!, Simon Napier-Bell in conversation variously about bias in modern media and why X-Factor is killing music. David McWilliams hosts a Leviathan special on the prospects for a New Republic. History Ireland will present two special "hedge schools" as part of the weekend with fascinating discussions on alternative justice and the principles and practice of neutrality There's festival slam poetry from London's Book Club Boutique, Poetry Ireland and mavericks like Howard Marks, John Cooper Clarke, DBC Pierre and Sebastian Horsley talking about life on the edge of society. All human life is there...in conversation. MindField will have a proper urban festival feel with outdoor markets, food and drink stalls, speakers' corner and lots of fascinating free activities such as Salon du Chat and Chaos Thaoghaire throughout the weekend.

Vantastival is a three-day family-friendly music festival held at Dunany Estate in mid-Louth over the May bank holiday weekend (April 30 - May 2, 2010), aimed primarily at campervan, motorhome and motor scooter enthusiasts but will be a brilliant weekend for all seasoned festival-goers with live music and entertainment on three stages. Bray Jazz Festival celebrates its 11th anniversary this year. Started in 2000, the festival has enjoyed a growing reputation for consistently showcasing of contemporary musical improvisers from both at home and abroad. Bray Jazz Festival aims to deliver a richly diverse and varied programme featuring some of the very finest players in jazz and improvised music. Firmly established as a major international music festival weekend in the East Coast, the festival was described as "one of the very best little jazz festivals in Europe" by the highly respected 'All About Jazz' last year. Since its earliest days, Bray Jazz has also attracted widespread public support - and the event has become a 'date in the diary' for an ever increasing number of music lovers from both across Ireland and abroad.

	Five Lamps Arts Festival Information	Apr 22, 2010 - May 01, 2010
An initiative of Marino College of Further Education aims to bring together local, national and international artists, musicians, singers and dramatists, the festival is a 10 day long celebration of eclectic music, new art, high drama, song, dance and community participation, all shining a light on the arts in Dublin's inner city. The festival is run by volunteers.

First hosted in 1992, Ireland’s most established new band showcase has provided a live platform for scores of up and coming Irish acts over the years. Recent acts to have featured include Fight Like Apes, Declan O’Rourke, Halves and Delorentos to name but a few. Ronan Yourell from Dublin band Delorentos said of the tour “It was an important step in the development of our band as we gained invaluable experience through the gigs and also met some really cool people!” A number of artists will be chosen from the tour to perform in a ‘Best of Showcase’ gig which will take place in Dublin venue The Academy on May 1st.

Magda & Sebo K have been filling clubs & entertaining crowds around the world with their brand of innovative forward thinking techno. Coming into the mix under the encouragement and instruction of Dan Bell and Claude Young, Magda began DJing in 1996 working her way through the underground party circuit, via promoters, such as: Syst3m, and joining the all female DJ collective: Women on Wax, it was only a short while before she began appearing regularly at Detroit area events and clubs. 1999 saw Magda's initial forays into techno, electro and house evolve. Her DJ sets were becoming increasingly minimal and the records in her box reflected a love of weird, challenging music. Invited by Richie Hawtin to open for him at his millennium celebration: Epok, Magda was entering a new phase in her career. The second part of this double bill, Sebo K is a resident at Berlin's esteemed Watergate club has become an unstoppable force in the electronic music scene. Alongside his now timeless original productions, Sebo has done remixes for some of the most respected labels and artists on the planet including Poker Flat, Mule Electronic, Radioslave, and Efdemin. A newly commissioned solo exhibition that explores the complex and historical world of spectatorship. Adopting the early special effects technique of matte painting, Sander uses and quotes the visual intricacies associated with illusion, while critically examining the personal motivation of consumers who participate in spectator industries. Tourism, audiences, the traveller and the curious are all characters who take time out of everyday life and pay to see things. The gallery will be transformed into a single, circular screen, providing a constantly changing and looping landscape. Sander contrasts the simplicity of matte painting with the complexity of the current economic unknowns that form the background to many of our lives.

We often imagine dinosaurs as colossal flesh-eating beasts that lived on our planet for an incredible 160 million years. Some were indeed gigantic, but many were only as heavy as a Labrador dog and many were vegetarian! Did you know that the Ornithomimus could run faster than an Olympic sprinter? See how the sociable Triceratops lived in herds, caring for and protecting their young. Meet Dilophosaurus, a relative of the first dinosaur found in Scotland. Come face to face with the mighty Tyrannosaurus rex, one of the fiercest land predators ever known. This massive animatronic model, 4 metres tall and 7 metres long, is so lifelike you’ll think it’s the real thing!
