Description:
The Gate Theatre is located in a beautiful 18th century building. However, because the Gate is not a custom built theatre this creates very great practical difficulties. There is no dedicated storage space for props or costumes; no rehearsal space; and a very cramped box office. Still, it's a joy to behold, and the quality of the theatrical events which have been held here over the past decades are world class. The Gate has a particularly long and rich association with Brian Friel, premiering many of his plays over the past forty-five years, most recently Hedda Gabler and also The Home Place, which subsequently toured to London's West End.Location: 1, Cavendish Row, Dublin 1
