Description:
Built in 1879, the Olympia Theatre is amongst the top three live music and entertainment venues in Dublin. A stalwart on the scene for decades, providing exposure to top-events like R.E.M.'s series of pre-tour practice gigs, and others like The Strokes and Lou Reed; mime by Marcel Marceau; comedy and theatre, such as the recent stage performance of "Shawshank Redemption". It shows its age sometimes, and can be a bit difficult to navigate when full to the brim with a standing audience, with floor getting sticky underfoot. Seats are brought in for more solemn events. Multiple floor levels are all tilted towards the raised stage. Recommended venue.Location: 72, Dame Street, Dublin 2
