Closely tied to the neighbouring Whelan's venue, the two often swap gigs if they've double-booked, or if the ticket sales are less (or more) than expected. Where Whelan's is a beauty of a venue, The Village doesn't convince. The area in front of the stage isn't wide enough to accommodate the masses, and there tends to be no space for elbows and pints. Coupled with a questionable sound system, it's very much the ugly sister in terms of sounds and visibility. That aside, the bar area is attractive and comfortable and downstairs there are quality DJ sessions on occasion from some of Ireland's better spinmeisters.Location: 26, Wexford Street, Dublin 2

Co-Orch Dublin, a group of young, passionate and talented musicians present a fantastic programme of classical music in The Village, Wexford Street on Thursday 17th November in aid of Focus Ireland. Co-Orch Dublin has grown from the members wanting to provide a platform for talented young Irish and international musicians to perform in exciting, vibrant, and original venues, and to showcase the work of young soloists and composers while raising much needed funds for indigenous Irish charities by hosting benefit concerts throughout the year. See The Village as you’ve never seen it before and support these local musicians while raising much needed funds for people who are homeless in Ireland.
